if everybody goes to war with everybody, they'll all have to buy their antipersonnel sundries from somebody; i nominate US industry!

also, and somewhat more focused: every iraqi, regardless of sectarian and ethnic affiliation, who is trying to kill an iraqi of other sectarian and ethnic affiliation is, in almost all cases, not trying to kill an american. moreover, they're somewhat less inclined, then, to travel to america, take away our toys and knock down our towers.

silver lining.

(oh, and: iraqi civil war related regional destabilization activities might provide certain hawks who, recently, may have begun to rue the actual costs and benefits of what they had, apparently, assumed would be operation cake walk, with an opportunity/excuse/reason to bring the boys and girls back home... or to move them to some other location, nearer that theater.

you surprise me, RW.

from reading the IronMouth i had had the impression that if it appeared to be bad for dubya, or to indicate his failure in his objectives, that you'd find it favorable.

sort of a the failure of my enemy is my success kind of milennial liberal schaudenfreude. how can you make me wrong?
